“Windows on War – Soviet Posters 1943–1945”

Windows Windows on Waron War – Soviet Posters 1943–1945” is now available online

The University of Nottingham’s rare collection of Soviet war posters is unique in the UK, and is one of the largest internationally.
Now they are online you can breathe in the colours, enjoy the cartoons and comic strips, admire the landscapes, or zoom in to explore the posters close-up in fantastic detail and learn about the posters as art, war propaganda and historical objects.

The new online exhibition “Windows on War – Soviet Posters 1943–1945” was organized by the Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies at the University of Nottingham. You can view the collection of TASS war posters in fantastic detail, with annotations and comments. There are currently 45 Windows and prints on the site, and more than another 100 posters will be added in the near future. You can zoom right into the posters, read about their war context and find out about the painters and writers who created them. This is a new resource for teachers, students, researchers, collectors and enthusiasts.
